My daughter received a copy of this book for her first birthday. She loved it, and especially loved touching the sparkly foil designs under each of the flaps.
Because she liked it so much, I ordered a copy for my friend’s child’s birthday. When it came, the description on the back of the book had been changed, and no longer are any of the pictures made of sparkly foil. The description on is inaccurate. It’s still cute, but definitely not as cute.
I bought this book for my son a few months prior to his first birthday to help him learn about the birthday celebration. I also didn’t want him to be frightened at his first birthday party with everyone singing to him, which is a lot of stimuli for a baby, so this book helped prepare him. This book is very colorful, filled with sparkley foiled pages and lots of cute surprises. It quickly became one of his favorite stories to read and was a well loved book. I now buy it as a first birthday gift for all the babies in our life. Karen Katz has yet again created a delightful book filled with whimisical illustrations that capture a baby’s attention. The "lift the flaps" concept is wonderful for babies and toddlers. This board book is sturdy, but not indestructible. The flaps are glued on, so they can be torn off, but they do repair reasonably well. A great addition to baby’s library!
I bought this for my granddaughters first birthday. She loved it and three months later is still trying to blow the candles out!
Beautifully illustrated I would recommend this book highly.
